Sign of the Times Paul Golata

I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

From time to time I find myself on the major road artery that takes drivers from downtown Dallas out towards its suburbs. This heavily trafficked highway is known here locally as North Central Expressway; a freeway section of U.S. Highway 75 between downtown Dallas and McKinney, TX.

On a recent Friday afternoon, just after 5 p.m., caught in the chaos and rush and what felt like the entire city of Dallas attempting to get onto this road and get back to respective homes, I saw a large billboard off in the distance.

Due to my slow pace as a result of the rush-hour grid lock I could make out a light bulb on the far away billboard. But as of yet it was too far away for me to make out what the message of the sign was really about.

Minutes later, as I inched forward in the traffic, I finally saw it all and took it in.

It was an LED light bulb pictured from one of the world’s major LED lighting manufactures, Cree.

I got excited, because even though I have seen various advertisements for LED bulbs due to my job, I had never before seen it so mass advertised in a manner that was communicating it out into the entire world for all to see.

Billboards are not just for advertising Coors Light- they also can advertise the future changes that are upon us in lighting!

I love the fact that I am involved in and participating with the changes that are upon us.

Have you ever experienced something like this? Where something you were technically working on for a long time came to a realization for all to see and the world noticed.

If so, consider sharing your moment and how this came to pass.

We would love to hear from you on you became part of changing the world, so leave a comment!
