Raspberry Pi Camera Module 2 & Camera Module 2 NoIR

Raspberry Pi Camera Module 2 and Camera Module 2 NoIR can take still photographs and high-definition, time-lapse, and slow-motion video. The modules feature a Sony IMX219 8-megapixel sensor that provides high image quality, color fidelity, and low-light performance. These components support 1080p30, 720p60, and VGA90 video modes and still capture. The modules attach via a 15cm ribbon cable to the CSI port on the Raspberry Pi. Accessed through the MMAL and V4L APIs, the cameras work with all models of Raspberry Pi 1, 2, 3, and 4.

The Pi NoIR (no Infrared filter) does not employ an infrared filter. Pictures taken in daylight will look decidedly curious, but the lack of an infrared filter allows one to see in the dark with infrared lighting.
