SMART Modular Technologies CXL® 4-DIMM & 8-DIMM Add-In Cards (AICs)
SMART Modular Technologies CXL® 4-DIMM and 8-DIMM Add-In Cards (AICs) feature a Type 3 PCIe Gen5 interface module, allowing CXL AICs using conventional DRAM memory modules to be installed. As a CXL form factor, the AICs have a higher capacity and power and must be internally installed within the system. The 4-DIMM AIC offers four DDR5 RDIMMs with one x16 CXL controller to implement a single x16 CXL port. The 8-DIMM AIC provides eight DDR5 RDIMMs with two x16 CXL controllers to implement two x8 CXL ports. Both products have a total bandwidth capability of up to 64GB/s, and each RDIMM socket supports up to 512GB for a maximum memory capacity of 2TB to 4TB. The SMART Modular Technologies CXL 4-DIMM and 8-DIMM AICs implement Reliability-Availability-Serviceability (RAS) features with advanced analytics, enhanced security, and monitoring capabilities. The interface modules are an ideal solution for increasing industry requirements for more memory per processor core. Typical applications include accelerated artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) workloads, large in-memory databases, banking/finance, online transaction processing (OLTP), and tiered caching for general-purpose storage.
