Bosch BMA456 Digital Triaxial MEMS Acceleration Sensor
Bosch BMA456 Digital Triaxial Acceleration Sensor is designed for motion and fitness tracking in wearables. This MEMS sensor offers ease of integration in a compact 2mm x 2mm package with a low height of 0.65mm. The acceleration sensor includes an optimized step counter for wearables integrated directly into the sensor, with no additional external microcontroller required. Bosch Sensortec BMA456 sensor provides 16-bit resolution, only 120μg/√Hz noise, and a total offset over its lifetime of only 20mg. The Temperature Coefficient of Offset (TCO) is ±0.3mg/K, ensuring activity tracking remains accurate under all conditions.Power consumption of the step counter is typically less than 30μA, maximizing battery life in portable devices. The sensor can be used to put wearables into sleep mode even during step-counting, thereby helping to reduce overall power consumption. BMA456 sensor is easily designed into space-constrained wearable applications such as fitness trackers, smartwatches, and hearables.
The hearable feature set integrates tap, double-tap, and triple-tap for intuitive user interaction, no-motion, and motion for optimized power management, activity recognition, and step counting for fitness applications. The 0.65mm height is ideally suited for wearable and hearable devices.
