Analog Devices Inc. LTM8065 Silent Switcher® µModule® Regulator
Analog Devices Inc. LTM8065 Silent Switcher® µModule® Regulator is a 40VIN step-down regulator housed in a 6.25mm x 6.25mm x 2.32mm BGA package. Included in the package are the switching controller, power switches, inductors, and all support components. Operating over an input voltage range of 3.4V to 40V, the LTM8065 supports an output voltage range of 0.97V to 18V and a switching frequency range of 200kHz to 3MHz, each set by a single resistor. Only the input and output filter capacitors are needed to finish the design.
The LTM8065 Silent Switcher µModule Regulator delivers 2.5A of continuous (3.5A peak) output current to a 5V load from a 12V input at up to 85℃ ambient without a heat sink or airflow. Designers can adjust the output voltage from 0.97V to 18V using one resistor. This wide output range enables the regulator to generate a common system bus voltage of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, and 15V. LTM8065's switching frequency is adjustable from 200kHz to 3MHz by synchronizing to an external clock or using an external single resistor.
In addition, designers can configure the LTM8065 as an inverting regulator. This feature provides an evaluated and verified solution for negative output voltage. Developed using Silent Switcher architecture, the LTM8065 Silent Switcher µModule Regulator minimizes EMC/EMI emissions and is CISPR 22 Cass B Compliant for noise-sensitive signal processing applications. The LTM8065 Regulator can safely operate from fluctuating or unregulated 12V to 36V input supplies in noisy environments. These noisy environments include industrial robotics, test and measurement, factory automation, avionics, medical, imaging, and RF systems.
