Amphenol / SV Microwave Solderless PCB Edge Launch Connectors
Amphenol SV Microwave Solderless PCB Edge Launch Connectors feature a solderless compression mount for fast and easy installation. Screws are included for mounting. SMA, 2.92mm, 2.4mm, and 1.85mm options are available. The components are adjustable for multiple PCB thicknesses with minimal reflections through an impedance matched PCB launch. A customized PCB footprint designed through simulation optimization makes the Solderless Edge Launch connectors a cost-effective solution for testing. The durable and rugged design enables use for RF testing/measurement boards, rapid prototyping, high-speed digital component testing, and military/aerospace applications.1.85mm
1.85mm coaxial PCB connectors are designed for mode-free operation through 65GHz. The 1.85mm series interface uses a mostly air-dielectric with a support bead that is set back in the body of the connector to reduce bead interaction in a mated pair. The body has been designed to ensure that the outer conductors engage before the center conductors make contact. This series uses an M7 thread and is compatible only with the 2.4mm interface. SV Microwave makes adapters to mate 1.85mm connectors to SMA and 2.92mm connectors.
2.4mm
The 2.4mm coaxial PCB connectors are developed for use up to 50GHz. The 2.4mm series uses a thick outer wall to negate the perceived fragility of SMA and 2.92mm connectors. A strengthened female socket ensures reliable mating. This series mates with SMA, 3.5mm, and 2.92mm connectors with adapters and can mate with the 1.85mm components without adapters. The 2.4mm connectors feature outer conductors that engage and align before the center contacts engage, preventing damage to the center contact. A plug coupling nut extends beyond the male center contact, protecting the contact while not mated. Fixed bead-contact assembly prevents transmission of mating torques to circuit elements. Interface dimensions minimize distortion and deterioration of the mating surfaces.
2.92mm
2.92mm coaxial PCB connectors have a frequency range of DC to 40GHz and are usable up to 46GHz. The male pin in the 2.92mm series is shorter than that of an SMA or 3.5mm connector. This shorter pin ensures the outer contacts of the male and female connectors will engage before the pin and female receptacle do. This negates wear and mating stress on the pin and socket from misalignment in an SMA or 3.5mm connector. The 2.92mm connector also features low VSWR, low RF leakage, and a thicker wall than a standard SMA. The 2.92mm series mates with SMA and 3.5mm connectors.
