4D Systems gen4-4DCAPE Series TFT LCD Display Capes
4D Systems gen4-4DCAPE Series TFT LCD Display Capes have been redesigned to provide additional design flexibility for BeagleBone Black (BBB) powered applications. The series comprises 4.3-, 5.0-, and 7.0- inch primary display modules. Each model has a 30-pin robust FCC ribbon cable that plugs directly into the supplied 4D Systems gen4-4DCAPE adapter board. The adapter cape connects directly to the BBB. This adapter enables multiple mounting options. No additional connectors are required to operate the display since all power, control, and data signals come through the FFC.
Features include EEPROM Cape ID selection via a DIP switch, an onboard Microchip AR1021 resistive touch controller for the resistive touch version, and Focaltech capacitive touch controller for the capacitive touch version. Both touch versions talk to the BBB through I²C. On the resistive touch version, 4x4mm mounting holes allow standard screws to fasten the module. The capacitive touch version provides adhesive on the cover lens bezel. The optional seven push buttons via the external button board enabling LEFT, RIGHT, UP, DOWN, ENTER, RESET, and POWER functionality is only available on request.

4D Systems gen4 4DCAPE Adapter is designed for and included with the gen4-4DCAPE Display Capes. The BeagleBone Black connects directly to the adapter. The adapter then connects to the display module via a 30-way FFC ribbon cable. This enables multiple mounting options for the gen4 TFT LCD Display Capes. The LCD display cape requirements, such as power and display signals, are provided from the BBB directly via the Adapter and FFC ribbon cable. Adapters can be purchased separately.
