This energy harvesting kit is a complete solution that allows developers to add energy harvesting, energy management, and storage to their application. The kit features an energy harvesting board and an Energy Micro Giant Gecko Starter Kit.

The energy harvesting board is a multi-source energy harvester with four Linear Technology voltage converters optimized for different energy sources -- solar, electromagnetic, piezo-electric, and thermal. The energy harvesting board offers two integrated energy sources to start the evaluation immediately: A solar cell (32mm x 50mm) and a thermogenerator (40mm x 40mm). Wurth Electronics Qi Wireless Power Charging Coils

Wurth Electronics Qi Wireless Power Charging Coils (WE-WPC) allow power to be transferred wirelessly through an inductive coupling at a short range of typically a few millimeters.  The Wireless Power Charging Coils from Wurth Electronics are Qi-standard compliant and evaluated and approved from several IC manufacturers. The transmit coil and receive coils are inductively coupled, meaning the AC current in the transmit coil generates a magnetic field which induces a voltage in the receive coil to power a device. The magnetic field between the coils is highly concentrated, exposing the user to only a small leakage field which is further minimized by an EMI shield on the back of the coil.  The coils are wound with litz wire, instead of bifilar, resulting in outstanding performance with the lowest DCRs and highest Q values. When used together, the transmit coil and receive coil achieve an efficiency of up to 75%.

The WE-UNIT Off-Line Transformer, Wurth Electronics' most standard offline transformer series, was designed to work with a wide input voltage range from 125-375Vdc with an isolation voltage of 4kV. The SMD transformers come in multiple voltage options with flexible secondaries, ranging from 5V to 41V. It also has auxiliary voltage taps at 6V and 14V or 20V, for maximum flexibility.The SMD transformers provide 3kVAC isolation and have an operating temperature of -40°C to 125°C. The parts' dimensions are 13.8mm x 17.8mm x 26.1mm. The eight-part series has three options for US input voltage, three options for European input voltage and two offline power options for Universal input voltage.
