Sharp's Memory LCD technology delivers high-contrast, high-resolution displays that allow for denser content than many other types of same-sized LCDs. Sharp's Memory LCD modules embed 1-bit memory in every pixel to enable each pixel to hold state while requiring very little current. This delivers an "always on" display that uses little power (only a single supply voltage is required), even when updating images. This helps designers create products with exceptionally long battery life. It also eliminates sweeping images or "ghosting", because only the part of the image that requires updating needs to be changed. The response time of Sharp's Memory LCD s makes it fast enough to display motion video. Bold and crisp black images are delivered by high-resolution capability in a small diagonal display .

A lightweight, two-glass design, plus an integrated driver in the panel, provides an exceptionally thin module that's perfect for compact handheld, wrist-top, and other small-screen devices that benefit from displaying rich content. Incorporating the Memory LCD into a design is simple with 3-wire SPI serial interface (SI, SCS, SCK).

The Sharp Microelectronics LS027B7DH01 2.7" Memory LCD Display Module features high-contrast HR-TFT technology that adds a polarizer to the top layer to greatly enhance the contrast of the display. The black level is dramatically enhanced, resulting in an almost paper-like black and white image. The display module is a reflective active-matrix type memory liquid crystal display that uses a CG silicon thin film transistor. The HR-TFT panel offers super low power consumption and an internal 1bit data memory. Sharp 's LS027B7DH01 2.7" Memory LCD Display Module is a thin, light, and compact module with monolithic technology and is controlled with serial data signal communication.

Sharp Microelectronics LS013B4DN02 1.35-inch PNLC Memory LCDs are loaded with features that deliver a display capable of smooth-moving graphics, with 50% reflectance and low power usage of 15 µW. The LS013B4DN02 thin 1.35-inch display with FPC connection comes with a flex cable that simplifies the connection to the display and allows for different mounting methods. These Sharp Microelectronics 1.35-inch square LCDs are visible in a 0.5 lux environment without requiring a light source. A 1-bit memory circuit is embedded into each pixel, which retains the pixel information once it's written.


Sharp Microelectronics has expanded the line-up of Memory LCD Display Modules to include the LS013B4DN01 thin 1.35" display. The Sharp Microelectronics Memory LCD 1.35" Display Module has a pixel density of 96 × 96 and is a Silver Reflective PNLC Memory TFT-LCD Module featuring a zebra (elastomeric) connector and 50% reflectivity with 10:1 contrast.

Sharp 's PNLC (Polymer Networked Liquid Crystal)- type silver metallic Memory LCD display delivers a luxurious image while adding style to your product design, as well as provides an option for a sub-display with continuously visible information. High 50% reflectivity offers excellent outdoor readability and quick response time accurately tracks scrolling of text and images. The Sharp PNLC Memory LCD is composed of a PNLC layer formed between a transparent surface electrode and mirror-reflective pixel electrodes. The PNLC modules uses a scattering mode of incoming light rays and does not require polarizers, which results in a very bright reflective display and uniform viewing at any angle, even in high ambient light. A backlight is not required.
