March 4, 2014 - Mouser Electronics, Inc. is stocking and shipping the just released AD9364 Agile Transceiver™, a new high performance, highly integrated programmable RF transceiver from Analog Devices (ADI). The new AD9364 operates from 70MHz to 6.0GHz and targets point‑to‑point communications systems, cellular base stations, and general purpose radio systems. It is ideal for 3G and 4G base station applications and requires only a 1.3V power supply.
The new Analog Devices AD9364 RF Agile Transceiver available from Mouser Electronics is a single‑channel version of ADI's dual‑channel AD9361 RF Agile Transceiver. It contains all the RF, mixed signal, and digital processing necessary to provide all broadband transceiver functions on a single chip. An RF front end captures/decodes and encodes/transmits the antenna signal, and combines it with a flexible mixed‑signal baseband with integrated frequency synthesizers.
The receiver section supports independent automatic gain control (AGC), DC offset correction, quadrature correction, and digital filtering. This improves reception by boosting weak signals and reducing interference. The transmitter is designed for high output signal accuracy with an emphasis on minimizing noise. On-board low power Phase Lock loops (PLLs) generate precision frequencies for both transmitter and receiver. A voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) and loop filter are also on‑chip. The AD9364 is controlled by a standard SPI port and four input control pins. In addition, four GPIO pins can be used to either control external peripherals or function as slaves for internal control of the AD9364.
To support prototyping ADI offers a Rapid Development Board. It includes an AD9364 mounted on a prototyping board with an FMC connection that interfaces to an FPGA development platform. In addition, ADI's Wiki provides downloadable reference designs, application firmware, and production‑ready Linux drivers.
