Kit Components:
- Blue sensor board on which is soldered the VCNL4000, a decoupling capacitor, and a 2 x 8 pin connector
- USB connector which supplies "clean" power to the sensor board
- CD Development software which includes a Quick Start menu and a software licensing agreement.
The sensor board can be plugged into the USB in the up or down orientation. An indicator light will be illuminated when the sensor board is receiving power and connected to the development software.

| Vishay Semiconductor VCNL4000 Fully Integrated Proximity and Ambient Light Sensor is the industry's first optical sensor combining an IR emitter, PIN photodiode, ambient light detector with 16-bit resolution, and an I2C interface. These features are integrated to greatly simplify window optics, the PCB layout, and communication functions, all with a low standby current consumption of 1.5 µA.
