Terasic TR4, DE4, and DE3 FPGA Development Kits provide the ideal hardware platform for system designs that demand high-performance, serial connectivity, and advanced memory interfacing. The TR4 and DE4 boards and kits are based on the Altera Stratix® IV GX EP4SGX230 and EP4SGX530 FPGAs, and the DE3 kits are based on the Altera Stratix® III EP3SL340, EP3SE260, and EP3SL150 FPGAs.

Terasic TR4 FPGA Development Kits provide the ideal hardware platform for system designs that demand high-performance, serial connectivity, and advanced memory interfacing. Developed specifically to address the rapidly evolving requirements in many end markets for greater bandwidth, improved jitter performance, and lower power consumption, the TR4 kits are powered by the Stratix® IV GX devices and supported by industry-standard peripherals, connectors, and interfaces that offer a rich set of features suitable for a wide range of compute-intensive applications.

The advantages of the Stratix IV GX FPGA platform with embedded transceivers allow the TR4 to be fully compliant with version 2.0 of the PCI Express standard. This accelerates mainstream development of PCI Express-based applications and enables customers to deploy designs for a broad range of high-speed connectivity applications.

The TR4 is supported by multiple reference designs and six High-Speed Mezzanine Card (HSMC) connectors that allow scaling and customization with mezzanine daughter cards. For large-scale ASIC prototype development, multiple TR4s can be stacked together to create an easily-customizable multi-FPGA system.

Altera's Stratix® IV High Density High Performance FPGAs deliver a breakthrough level of system bandwidth and power efficiency for high-end applications, allowing you to innovate without compromise. The Stratix® IV GX transceiver FPGAs—up to 531,200LEs, 27,376Kb RAM, 1288 18 x 18-bit multipliers. These devices provide up to 48 full-duplex CDR-based transceiver channels per device. Thirty-two out of the 48 transceiver channels have dedicated physical coding sublayer (PCS) and physical medium attachment (PMA) circuitry and support data rates between 600Mbps and 8.5Gbps. The remaining 16 transceiver channels have dedicated PMA-only circuitry and support data rates between 600Mbps and 6.5Gbps.

The advantages of the Stratix IV GX FPGA platform with embedded transceivers allow the DE4 to be fully compliant with version 2.0 of the PCI Express standard, in addition to serial ATA (SATA) interfaces, making it possible to leverage the integration option for storage applications. The DE4 delivers fully tested and supported connectivity targeted reference designs that integrate built-in blocks for PCI Express, SATA transceivers, and Gigabit Ethernet protocol. The DE4 also includes two DDR2 SO-DIMM sockets supporting a maximum capacity of 8Gb of volatile memory for user applications which are capable of running at a 400MHz clock rate.

The DE4 is supported by multiple targeted reference designs and two High-Speed Mezzanine Card (HSMC) connectors that allow scaling and customization with mezzanine daughter cards. Large-scale ASIC prototype development can be established by connecting a cable to multiple DE4/FPGA boards through the HSMC connectors.

Terasic DE3 Development System allows researchers and engineers to access the high density and high performance FPGA - the Altera Stratix® III. Starting with the Stratix III EP3SL150 (142K logic elements), the DE3 is the perfect platform for creating cutting edge designs in programmable logic. The DE3-150 board can be stacked up to create a programmable fabric that is un-equaled by any other board system. DE3 boards also include the DE3-340 (338K logic elements) and the DE3-260 (254.4K logic elements) that are optimized with extra on-chip multipliers needed for DSP research and development. All of the DE3s can be stacked and all share the same set of functions from the connected Terasic daughter cards. Multiple DE3s can be joined together to increase design gate count and performance.
