The ST7540 is a Half Duplex synchronous/asynchronous FSK Modem designed for power line communication network applications. It operates from a single supply voltage and integrates a line driver and two linear regulators for 5V and 3.3V. The device operation is controlled by means of an internal register, programmable through the synchronous serial interface. Additional functions as watchdog, clock output, output voltage and current control, preamble detection, time-out and band in use are included. Realized in Multipower BCD5 technology that allows to integrate DMOS, Bipolar and CMOS structures in the same chip.

STEVAL-IHP002V2 Demonstration Board

STMicroelectronics' STEVAL-IHP002V2 Demonstration Board implements a PLM smartplug node which allows monitoring the energy consumption of a mains plug and controlling any kind of load in on/off mode through a relay. The board is based on the STM32F103CB microcontroller, the ST7540 PLM module and the STPM01 mono-phase energy metering IC. The voltage, current, power, active energy and the output status can be sent to a PLM data concentrator through a power line communication network on request. Moreover, if the power consumption changes, it is sent asynchronously to the data concentrator.

STMicroelectronics EVALST7590T-2 STarGRID ST7590T SoC PRIME Powerline Communications Development Kit is based on the ST7590 powerline communication system-on-chip. It embeds all the functions required for a turnkey powerline communication network: the PLC node is based on the ST7590T device, the AC power supply is based on the ALTAIR4-900 SMPS controller and the STM32F103RG microcontroller, to either control the system as a standalone application or to connect the EVALST7590T-2 to an external host.
