STMicroelectronics STM32 F4 32-bit Cortex™-M4 Microcontrollers (MCUs) open the door to the digital signal controller (DSC) market with a family of devices that are pin-to-pin and software compatible with the STM32 F2 series but with better performance, DSP capability, more SRAM, and peripheral improvements such as full duplex I²S, less than 1μA RTC, and 2.4MSPS ADCs. STMicroelectronics STM32 F4 MCUs include a floating point unit and core features such as built-in single-cycle multiply-accumulate (MAC) instructions, optimized SIMD arithmetic, and saturating arithmetic instructions. The adaptive real-time ART Accelerator™ combined with STMicroelectronics 90 nm technology provides linear performance up to 168MHz, unleashing the full performance of the core. These features expand the number of addressable applications in the industrial, consumer, and healthcare segments. STM32 F4 series MCUs include devices with 512KB to 1MB of on-chip Flash memory, 192KB of SRAM, and 15 communication interfaces.

STEVAL-IDI001V1 Evaluation Board

STMicroelectronics STEVAL-IDI001V1 Evaluation Board is based on the STM32F4 Microcontroller and a wide range of ST sensors. The STEVAL-IDI001V1 has a small form factor (4x4cm) and represents an integration of sensors and CPU for a "sensor hub like" application. The hardware is compatible with STM32Nucleo and X-NUCLEO expansion boards. The included adapter board is an expansion board that allows the interoperability between STEVAL-IDI001V1, STM32Nucleo and various X-NUCLEO expansions. Expansion boards can be connected either via Arduino or morpho connectors. The evaluation board comes with built-in data logging firmware. It allows streaming and storing of the selected sensor measurements via USB or via bluetooth low energy if an X-NUCLEO-IDB04A1 (or X-NUCLEO-IDB05A1) is plugged through the adapter board. The acquired data can be used to implement new advanced algorithms.
