STMicroelectronics VIPerPlus High Voltage Converters combine 800V avalanche-rugged MOSFET with state-of-the-art PWM circuitry. The result is truly innovative AC-DC conversion that is efficient, simpler, quicker and, with component count halved, less expensive. The VIPerPlus family represents the easiest solution to comply with the Blue Angel and Energy Star eco norms, with extremely low total power consumption from the mains when the system is in standby mode.

STMicroelectronics VIPerPlus High Voltage Converters combine 800V avalanche-rugged MOSFET with state-of-the-art PWM circuitry. The result is truly innovative AC-DC conversion that is efficient, simpler, quicker and, with component count halved, less expensive. In addition to benefits such as optimized current-mode control and comprehensive built-in protection circuits, the VIPerPlus family represents the easiest solution to comply with the Blue Angel and Energy Star eco norms, with extremely low total power consumption from the mains when the system is in standby mode.

Burst mode operation and device very low consumption helps to meet the standby energy saving regulations. The quasi-resonant feature reduces EMI filter cost. Brown-out and brown-in function protects the switch mode power supply when the rectified input voltage level is below the normal minimum level specified for the system. The high voltage start-up circuit is embedded in the device.

The device is able to power itself directly from the rectified mains, eliminating the need for an auxiliary bias winding. Advanced frequency jittering reduces EMI filter cost.
