8-channel Galvanic Isolated Intelligent Power Switch

The ISO8200B is a galvanic isolated 8-channel driver featuring a very low supply current. It contains 2 independent galvanic isolated voltage domains (Vcc for the Power stage and Vdd for the Digital stage). Additional embedded functions are: loss of GND protection, undervoltage shutdown with hysteresis, and reset function for immediate power output shutdown. The IC is intended to drive any kind of load with one side connected to ground. Active channel current limitation combined with thermal shutdown, (independent for each channel), and automatic restart, protect the device against overload and short-circuit. In overload conditions, if junction temperature overtakes threshold, the channel involved is turned off and on again automatically after the IC temperature decreases below a reset threshold. If this condition causes case temperature to reach limit threshold TCR, the overloaded channel is turned off and it only restarts when case and junction temperature decrease down to the reset thresholds. Nonoverloaded channels continue operating normally. An internal circuit provides an OR-wired not latched common FAULT indicator signaling the channel OVT. The FAULT pin is an open drain active low fault indication pin.

STEVAL-PCC009V2 Development Board

The STEVAL-PCC009V2 board implements an IBU universal interface (IBUUI), which is an STM32x-based USB-to-serial interface bridge consisting of a configurable 10-pin interface and a 30-pin interface. The STM32x microcontroller is used as an interface between the PC and another end system. Various communication peripherals are multiplexed with GPIOs, ADC and PWM channels in both the 10-pin and 30-pin interfaces. With these interfaces, there is a provision to connect a device which can communicate using I2C, SPI and UART. Thus, the IBUUI tool allows users to connect a serial communication-based device to a PC. At the same time, it allows user control of some GPIOs available in 10-pin and 30- pin interfaces, and sets them to input/output mode as per application requirements.




STEVAL-IFP015V2 Power Management IC Development Tool

The STEVAL-IFP015V2 demonstration board works in combination with the STEVALPCC009V2 or STEVAL-PCC009V1 interface board to allow evaluation of all the features of the ISO8200B device. A large GND area on the printed circuit board has been designed to minimize noise effects and ensure good thermal performance. The ISO8200B is a galvanic isolated 8 channel driver featuring a very low supply current. It contains 2 independent galvanic isolated voltage domains (VCC for the power stage and VDD for the digital stage). The IC is intended to drive any type of load with one side connected to ground. Active channel current limitation combined with thermal shutdown, independent for each channel, and automatic restart protect the device against overload. Additional embedded functions are: loss of GND protection which automatically turns off the outputs in case of analog ground, undervoltage shutdown with hysteresis, and reset function for immediate power output shutdown. Built-in thermal shutdown protects the chip against overtemperature and short-circuit. In overload condition, the channel turns off, then back on automatically after the IC temperature has decreased below a reset threshold. If this condition causes the case temperature to reach the TCR limit, the overloaded channel is turned off and will restart only when case and junction temperature have decreased down to the reset threshold. Non overloaded channels continue to operate normally. An internal circuit provides an OR-wired non latched common FAULT indicator signaling channel OVT. The FAULT pin is an open-drain active-low fault indication pin.
