Texas Instruments TLC6C59x Shift Register LED Drivers are monolithic, medium-voltage, low-current power 8- or 12-bit shift registers designed for use in systems that require relatively moderate load power, such as LEDs. TI TLC6C598 contains an 8-bit serial-in, parallel-out shift register that feeds an 8-bit D-type storage register while TLC6C5912-Q1 contains a 12-bit serial-in, parallel-out shift register that feeds a 12-bit D-type storage register. Outputs are low-side, open-drain DMOS transistors with output ratings of 40V and 50mA continuous sink-current capabilities when VCC = 5V. The current limit decreases as the junction temperature increases for additional device protection. The device also provides up to 2000V of ESD protection when tested using the human-body model and the 200V machine model. TI TLC6C59x is designed for operation over the operating ambient temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. These TI shift register LED drivers are designed for use in instrumentation clusters, tell-tale lamps and LED illumination and control.
