Power Integrations CapZero™ ICs

CapZeroICs from Power Integrations block current flow in the X capacitor safety discharge resistors when AC voltage is applied, reducing the power loss to less than 5 mW, or essentially zero at 230 VAC. Power Integrations CapZero ICs automatically discharge X capacitors through discharge resistors when AC is disconnected, simplify EMI filter design, have only two terminals improving safety standards, have <4 mm creepage on package and PCB, are self-supplied requiring no external bias, have high common mode surge immunity and high differential surge withstand, and are EcoSmart®/energy-efficient.The CAPZero Reference Design Board (RDK-252) demonstration board employs the CAP014DG CAPZero IC and operates over a universal input range. This demo board for the CapZero family is designed and tested to operate with an ambient temperature environment of up to 105ºC.
