DC Connectors and Contacts

The SolarSpec™ DC Connectors from Molex provide a secure IP-67 sealed connection for series cabling of silicon photovoltaic (PV) panels through industry-standard pin and socket construction, easy 'snap-lock' mating, and an internal locking mechanism. The SolarSpec™ DC Connectors have Molex's exclusive design features including molded surface ribs for a secure grip, "touch-proof" safety construction to protect against an electrical current whether the connectors are mated or unmated, and a contact resistance of <0.5mΩ. The rugged design of the Molex SolarSpec™ DC Connectors meets NEC 2008 and NFPA 70; US-code for "the safe installation of electrical wiring and equipment" and the TÜV and UL dual-qualification for long-life in harsh conditions. The connectors are suitable for 14, and 12 to 10 AWG cable.

Solar Junction Boxes and Cable Assemblies

Developed for the robotic assembly of silicon photovoltaic (PV) systems, the Molex SolarSpec™ Junction Boxes and Cable Assemblies simplify the panel-assembly production process and reduce manufacturing costs. The exclusively-designed spring terminals with optional Solder Charge Technology™ enable the SolarSpec™Junction Box Assembly to be attached to PV solar panels using robotic pick-and-place machines, which can reduce the assembly time by a factor of up to 10.

The SolarSpec™ cable assemblies are available for use in serial and parallel solar applications. The offering includes single-ended cordsets for use with solar junction boxes and double-ended configurations for array and field installations. The 12 AWG cables are double-insulated, electron beam cross-linked to ensure long life cycles and to meet the demands of harsh, outdoor solar applications. Molex SolarSpec™ cable assemblies are designed to connect to other products in the SolarSpec™ product line.

  • Maximum thermal efficiency ensures low heat generation
  • Locking mechanism to secure the base to the cover prevents accidental exposure of high-voltage contacts; requires tool to open
