Microchip dsPIC33EP 16-bit DSCs / PIC24E 16-bit MCUs

Microchip dsPIC33EPxxxMC20x and dsPIC33EPxxxMC50x digital signal controllers (DSCs) and PIC24ExxxMC20x microcontrollers (MCUs) feature an enhanced core with up to 70 MIPS performance. These Microchip 16-bit DSCs and MCUs feature up to 256KB Flash memory and 32KB RAM, greater I/O capabilities, and a USB 2.0 OTG interface, as well as enhanced motor-control, graphics, audio, and real-time embedded-control capabilities. Microchip dsPIC33EPxxxMC20x / dsPIC33EPxxxMC50x DSCs and PIC24ExxxMC20x MCUs enable connections to a PC, Flash drive, and other USB-enabled devices. The 70 MIPS performance means these devices support computer-interfaced applications.

Microchip's dsPIC33E High Performance Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs) offer the performance of a DSP with the simplicity of an MCU. The dsPIC33E core is designed to execute digital filter algorithms, high-speed precision digital control loops and digital audio and speech processing. dsPIC33E DSCs with Motor Control peripherals enable the design of high-performance, precision motor control systems. The dsPIC33E SMPS DSCs provide on-chip peripherals specifically designed for high-performance, digital power supplies. SMPS peripherals include high speed and high resolution PWM, fast ADC and analog comparators.

Microchip's MPLAB Starter Kit (DM330011) for dsPIC Digital Signal Controllers is a complete hardware and software tool suite for exploring applications based upon Microchip's dsPIC DSCs. With a built-in debugger on the board, simply install the software and connect the USB cable to the PC. Start up MPLAB IDE and you are in full control, able to run the sample programs, and to download and test your own applications. The board is designed with dsPIC DSC with 256 KB of flash memory, a high-fidelity audio codec, microphone input and headphone/speaker outputs, and is powered from the USB connection to the PC. Also on the board are reconfigurable switches, potentiometers, a temperature sensor and a 4 Mb serial EEPROM to store data such as audio samples.

Dual Motor Control Plug-In Module (PIM) (MA330027)

Microchip's Dual Motor Control Plug-In Module (PIM) (MA330027) is designed to facilitate the development of Motor Control applications using two motors and one Digital Signal Controller (DSC). Two Microchip dsPICDEM™ motor control development boards can be used with this PIM to control 3-phase BLDC, PMSM, ACIM or 2-phase stepper motors. A flexible cable connects the two boards together and routes all signals to the appropriate pins on the DSC. The configuration of the cable and signals was carefully chosen to support a wide range of dual motor configuration application notes written for the dsPICDEM™ MCLV, MCHV, and MCSM Development Boards.

MCLV-2 Development Board (DM330021-2)

Microchip's MCLV-2 Development Board (DM330021-2) provides a cost-effective method of evaluating and developing sensored or sensorless Brushless DC (BLDC) and permanent magnet synchronous motor control applications. The board supports Microchip's 28-pin SOIC and 100-pin Plug-In-Modules with dsPIC33E or dsPIC33F Digital Signal Controllers. The board supports the use of the internal, on chip Op Amps found on certain dsPIC devices or the external Op Amps found on the MCLV-2 board. A dsPIC33EP256MC506 Internal Op Amp PIM (MA330031) is included. The board is capable of controlling motors rated up to 48V and 15 Amps, with multiple communication channels such as USB, CAN, LIN and RS-232.

MCHV-2 Development Board (DM330023-2)

Microchip's MCHV-2 Development Board (DM330023-2) is intended to aid the user in the rapid evaluation and development of a wide variety of motor control applications using a dsPIC® Digital Signal Controller (DSC). This development system is targeted to control Brushless DC (BLDC) motors, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM), and AC Induction Motors (ACIM) in sensor or sensorless operation. This flexible and cost-effective tool can be configured in different ways for use with Microchip's specialized motor control DSCs. The dsPICDEM™ MCHV-2 Development System supports the dsPIC33F and dsPIC33E Motor Control device family and offers a mounting option to connect either a 28-pin SOIC device or a generic 100-pin Plug-In Module (PIM). The system has a three-phase power module device that contains the motor inverter and the gate driver's circuitry. The circuit drives a BLDC, PMSM, or ACIM motor using different control techniques without requiring any additional hardware. The MCHV-2 supports using either the internal Op Amps found on certain dsPIC33E products or the external opamps found on the MCHV-2 board for current sensing. It also has Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuitry to meet power regulatory requirements.
