Maxim Integrated MAX71020 Single-Chip Electricity Meter AFE is a single-chip, analog front-end designed for use in high-performance revenue meters. MAX71020 AFE contains the compute engine found in the Maxim Integrated fourth-generation meter system-on-chip (SoC) and an improved analog-to-digital converter (ADC). MAX71020 interfaces to the host microcontroller of choice over an SPI interface. This Maxim Integrated device comes in a 28-pin TSSOP package.

MAX71020AEVK1# Evaluation Kit demonstrates the capabilities of the MAX71020A embedded  energy measurement (EM) device. The EVK can measure AC and/or DC current and voltage utilizing a surface mount resistive shunt and resistive voltage divider. The EV kit provides an isolated SPI interface to the device over USB. A provided Windows® graphical user interface  (GUI) handles translation from the USB to device-specific  SPI protocols.
