Littelfuse K Series SidactorsLittelfuse's K Series SIDAC s are bidirectional voltage triggered switches. Constructed with glass-passivated junctions, the K Series SIDAC s provide reliable performance even in harsh operating environments. With an one-cycle surge current capability up to 20 A, K Series SIDAC s are ideal for dumping charged capacitors through an inductor in order to generate high-voltage pulses.

Standard SIDACs

 

The standard K Series SIDAC is a silicon bidirectional voltage triggered switch. Voltage activation occurs at a peak voltage level of 79V to 330V. When the voltage exceeds the SIDAC breakover voltage point, the standard K Series SIDAC switches on through a negative resistance region to a low on-state voltage. Conduction continues until the current is interrupted or drops below the minimum holding current of the device.

Multipulse™SIDACs

 

The Multipulse™ SIDAC s are solid state voltage switches designed for Metal-Halide lamp ignition circuits and high pressure sodium lamp ignition circuits in outdoor street and area lighting. Littelfuse 's Multipulse™ SIDAC s are capable of handling lamp igniter applications requiring operation at ambient temperatures up to 90°C where igniter circuit components can raise SIDAC junction temperature up to 125°C, especially when the lamp element is removed or ruptured. With an excellent commutation time (tCOMM) of 100 µsec maximum, the robust Multipulse™ SIDAC s can produce multiple pulses in each half cycle of 50/60 Hz line voltage.

The Kxxx1G SIDAC product line features a repetitive off-state blocking voltage (VDRM) of 180V to 270V minimum depending on the device type. The glass passivated junctions ensure blocking capability in harsh environments. Package is epoxy encapsulation with tin-plated alloy leads.
