KEMET introduces the T521 Series High Voltage Polymer Tantalum Capacitor, the first 35 volt rated polymer tantalum chip capacitor. Prior to the release of the T521 series, polymer tantalum capacitors were limited to application voltages of less than 20V.
This new technology involves advances in materials and the manufacturing process to produce a polymer tantalum capacitor suitable for applications of up to 28V of continuous duty, high voltage 16V - 35V. The T521 series features up to 68uF capacitance value, high ripple current capability, safe failure mode, and low ESR. The KEMET T521 Series High Voltage Polymer Tantalum Capacitor
is volumetrically efficient, has stable temperature characteristics, is
Pb Free when ordered with 100% Sn Termination Finish, RoHs compliant,
and halogen free.
The KO-CAP, KEMET's Organic Polymer Tantalum Capacitor, features a Ta anode and Ta₂O₅ dielectric as well as a conductive organic polymer that replaces the traditionally used MnO₂ as the cathode plate of the capacitor. This results in very low ESR and improved capacitance retention at high frequency.
At this time, no other manufacturer has announced the release of a polymer tantalum chip capacitor rated above 25V.
