HARTING Subminiature D connectors are the standard interfaces for data, signal and service/programmer interfaces in all industries. The extensive product range supports all D-Subminiature interfaces common in the industry, such as PROFIBUS, CanOpen and DeviceNet. Connectors are available in optional plastic and metal housings with IP 20 and IP 20, IP 65, and IP 67 protection.

In addition to the comprehensive range of Standard connectors with 9 to 50 straight, right-angled or US foot print style contacts, HARTING offers other product ranges which extend the applications of D-Subminiature connectors considerably.

Depending on the product family, various termination techniques can be supplied such as press-in, solder, SMC or SMT to match the customer's termination process. HARTING filtered D-sub connectors are distinguished by their high performance and offer optimal filtering. The filtering element incorporates a multilayer printed circuit board and surface mount components, all within the standard D-Sub shell.

The HARTING filtered D-sub range consists of both male and female connectors in various terminations such as solder buckets, straight and right angled solder pins with 9, 15, 25 and 37 contact versions. Suitable for military, aerospace, industrial, medical, telecom and computer applications.

HARTING High Density D-Sub Connectors with 15 to 78 straight and right-angled solder termination and crimp or solder cup cable mount versions, exceed the contact capacity of the standard D-Subminiature connectors up to 70%.

The primary benefit of HARTING's D-Sub High Density connectors is to provide a higher density of contacts within the standard D-Sub shell pattern. A higher number of contacts allows design engineers to enhance their equipment by including more data paths with the same panel cut out. 15, 26, 44, 62 and 78 pin, respectively, are designed in a 9, 15, 25, 37 and 50 pin standard D-Sub size shell.


SMT

Harting SMT D-Sub Connectors

Today, typical components such as ICs, resistors, capacitors, inductors, and connectors with straight terminal pins are almost exclusively fitted using Surface Mount Technology (SMT) in mass production. This technology offers a space saving of up to 70 percent. In contrast, angled SMT connectors at the edge of the board have not been successful because of tolerance problems (co-planarity) and stresses during mating.

The new HARTING D-Sub SMT connector series has been optimized for reliable performance and a long service life. The SMT terminals' coplanarity is a maximum of 0.1 mm, and the cast iron bases guarantee perfect soldering. The black insulating housing simplifies camera recognition, and the large, level surface is ideal for use with common Pick-and-Place vacuum applications. An open terminal area makes it possible to inspect the soldered connection and also improves heat dissipation. The rectangular D-Sub SMT connectors from HARTING are available in both standard and low-profile versions, with 9 to 37 contacts and a large selection of hardware in M3 or 4-40 UNC.

Waterproof

Harting Waterproof D-Sub Connectors

HARTING's D-Sub IP 67 connector series is fully dedicated to water resistant applications and fulfills the rigorous requirements of IP 67. This product family is aimed at equipment placed in harsh environments, indoors and outdoors, where connectors are exposed to moisture, dust and dirt.

Complete solutions are available for PCB and cable mount applications. The cable connector range is complemented by a selection of hoods. For PCB applications, connectors for water resistant panel mounting purposes are available, with or without rear frame.

Most D-Sub IP 67 connector variants are available with 9 to 50 contacts.

Typical applications of D-Sub IP 67 connectors can be found in industrial machinery, process control, mobile equipment and instrumentation.

Coaxial

Harting Coaxial D-Sub Connectors

HARTING D-Sub coaxial connectors are provided in two versions, inner conductor soldered and outer part crimped (solder/crimp termination), as well as inner and outer part crimped (crimp/crimp termination). The crimp/crimp version is recommended for medium to large size volume since crimping is faster than soldering.

HARTING's High Current and High Voltage offering is included in the "Mixed D-Sub" range, so the high current connectors are designed around the standard D-Sub shell sizes with the possibility to have a blend of contacts. Fully shielded, the high current versions reduce EMI/RFI leakage. All contacts are machined with two different platings. When hot plug-in is required, first mate last break contacts can also be supplied. For connectors to be fitted on a board with SMT components, they can be supplied in an SMC (PiHIR) version which is assembled in the reflow solder process, thus reducing assembly cost.


Mixed

Harting Mixed D-Sub Connectors

HARTING's mixed D-Sub range brings the advantage of an industry standard I/O interconnect product with the possibility to customize for any application. The range is designed around the standard D-Sub shell sizes with the possibility to have a blend of contacts such as signals with coaxial, power, high voltage or pneumatic contacts.

Due to its construction, HARTING mixed D-Sub connectors are fully shielded which helps reduce the EMI/RFI leakage. All contacts are machined with two different platings. When hot plug-in is required, first mate last break contacts can also be supplied. For connectors to be fitted on a board with SMT components, they can be supplied in an SMC (PiHIR) version which is assembled in the reflow solder process, thus reducing assembly cost.

In addition, a complete range of accessories such as clinch nut, spacers, board locks, female screw lock, etc. … meeting the requirements of virtually any application, including a blind mate feature, makes this product range very attractive thanks to its versatility, reliability and cost effectiveness.
