Bourns TISP® Thyristor Surge Protectors

Bourns TISP® Thyristor Surge Protectors are surge protective devices with characteristics very different than the normal SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier) and TRIAC (Triode for AC Control) type thyristors. Thyristor Surge Protector Device current parameters cover a range from a few nanoamps to hundreds of amps. A similar situation exists for thyristor SPD voltages, where there can be a wide range from several volts to hundreds. These TISP products are specially designed to provide protection for telecommunications equipment in instances where high voltages occur as a result of lightning strikes, power line crosses, or a/c power surges.


ACTP AC Transient Protector

Bourns Model ACTP (AC Transient Protector) for protecting offline power supplies is designed to withstand a ±2.5kV combinational wave surge per IEC 61000-4-5 when used in series with an appropriate overvoltage clamp device. ACTP comes in a SMB (DO-214AA) package and is designed to be used in series with an overvoltage clamp device. The precise and stable voltage of Bourns ACTP raises the turn-on voltage threshold of the series combination for low frequency overvoltage conditions and has minimal impact on the voltage clamp level when subjected to a lightning surge.

TISP61089M

TISP61089M dual forward-conducting buffered p-gate overvoltage protector is designed to protect monolithic SLICs against overvoltages caused by lightning, a.c. power contact, and induction. This Bourns dual voltage-programmable protector features high 70A 5/310 capability and supports voltages down to -155V. It also offers low 5mA gate triggering current and high 150mA holding current. TISP61089M limits voltages that exceed the SLIC supply rail voltage.

TISP Protectors for vDSL and G.Fast Applications

Bourns TISP Protectors for VDSL and G. Fast Applications are designed to protect driver interfaces from overvoltages up to rated limits of both lines of a twisted wire pair in a single device. When positioned between the xDSL line driver IC and a transformer, the TISP protector will clamp and switch into a low-impedance state, safely redirecting the current transferred by the xDSL coupling transformer. The biased low capacitance design makes this device suitable for designs from ADSL to 30MHz VDSL2 to G.Fast.
