Arduino Ethernet Shields

Arduino Ethernet Shields connect your Arduino to the internet in mere minutes. Just plug this module onto your Arduino board, connect it to your network with an RJ45 cable (not included) and follow a few simple instructions to start controlling your world through the Internet. Arduino Ethernet Shields allow an Arduino board to connect to the internet. These shields are based on the Wiznet W5100 ethernet chip, which provides a network (IP) stack capable of both TCP and UDP. These shields support up to four simultaneous socket connections. Use the Ethernet library to write sketches that connect to the Internet using the shield. The ethernet shields connect to an Arduino board using long wire-wrap headers that extend through the shield. This keeps the pin layout intact and allows another shield to be stacked on top.

Arduino A000064/65 Wireless Proto Shields

Arduino A000064/65 Wireless Proto Shields allow an Arduino board to easily connect with an RF Module, enabling wireless communication using external wireless modules. They are based on the Xbee® ZigBee® RF modules from Digi, but can use any Wireless module with the same footprint as XBee modules. Proto shield-connected modules can be used as serial/USB replacements or they can be put into command mode and configured for a variety of broadcast and mesh networking options. The shields break out each Xbee RF module pin to a through-hole solder pad for easy access.

The A000064 comes without SD slot, while the A000065 does include an on-board SD card slot. Both shields include a switch allowing for control via USB or the microcontroller.

Features
  • Requires an Arduino board (not included)
  • Operating voltage: 5V (supplied from the Arduino Board)
  • Supports micro SD cards (A000065)
  • Socket for wireless expansion modules

Arduino A000058 WiFi Shield

Arduino A000058 WiFi Shield connects your Arduino to the internet wirelessly. Connect it to your wireless network by following a few simple instructions to start controlling your world through the internet. As always with Arduino, every element of the platform – hardware, software and documentation – is freely available and open-source. This means you can learn exactly how it's made and use its design as the starting point for your own circuits.

Features
  • Requires an Arduino board (not included)
  • Operating voltage 5V (supplied from the Arduino Board)
  • Connection via: 802.11b/g networks
  • Encryption types: WEP and WPA2 Persoanl
  • Connection with Arduino on SPI port
  • On-board micro SD slot
  • ICSP headers
  • FTDI connection for serial debugging of WiFi shield
  • Micro-USB for updating WiFi shield firmware

Arduino A000043 GSM Shield

Arduino A000043 GSM Shields connect your Arduino to the internet using the GPRS wireless network. Arduino A000043 GSM Shields plug into your Arduino board, supply a SIM card from an operator offering GPRS coverage and follow a few simple instructions to start controlling your world through the internet. You can also make/receive voice calls (you will need an external speaker and microphone circuit) and send/receive SMS messages.

Features
  • Requires an Arduino board (not included)
  • Operating Voltage 5V (supplied from the Arduino Board
  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS Modem: GSM850MHz, GSM900MHz, DCS1800MHz, and PCS1900MHz
  • Supports TCP/UDP and HTTP protocols through GPRS connection
  • GPRS data downlink/uplink transfer speed max is 85.6kbps
  • Requires SIM card provided by a network operator

Arduino A000079 Motor Shield

Arduino A000079 Motor Shield is based on the L298, which is a dual full-bridge driver designed to drive inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, DC, and stepping motors. This shield lets you drive two DC motors with your Arduino board, controlling the speed and direction of each one independently. You can also measure the current absorption of each motor, among other features. The shield is TinkerKit compatible, which means you can quickly create projects by plugging TinkerKit modules to the board. This shield has two separate channels, called A and B, that each use 4 of the Arduino pins to choose the rotation direction, vary the speed, fast brake, or sense the current that is flowing through the motor. In total, there are 8 pins in use on this shield. You can use each channel separately to drive two DC motors or combine them to drive one bipolar stepper motor.

Features
  • Operating Voltage: 5V to 12V
  • Motor controller: L298P, Drives 2 DC motors or 1 stepper motor
  • Max current: 2A per channel or 4A max (with external power supply)
  • Current sensing: 1.65V/A
  • Free running stop and brake function
