Altera Cyclone III LS FPGA devices are the first to implement a suite of security features at the silicon, software, and intellectual property (IP) level on a low-power and high-functionality FPGA platform. This suite of security features protects the IP from tampering, reverse engineering and cloning. In addition, Cyclone III LS devices support design separation which enables you to introduce redundancy in a single chip to reduce size, weight, and power of your application.

  • Configuration security using advanced encryption standard (AES) with 256-bit volatile key
  • Routing architecture optimized for design separation flow with the Quartus® II software
    • Design separation flow achieves both physical and functional isolation between design partitions
  • Ability to disable external JTAG port
  • Error Detection (ED) Cycle Indicator to core
    • Provides a pass or fail indicator at every ED cycle

Altera Embedded Systems Development Kit, Cyclone® III Edition is a complete development platform for prototyping embedded systems on Altera’s low-cost, low-power FPGA family. This kit is an ideal choice for developers running Linux on the Nios® II processor. This Altera kit includes a Cyclone III FPGA-based board with high-speed mezzanine card (HSMC) connectors to interface to a wide range of daughtercards, an LCD multimedia HSMC to interface to common peripherals such as standard definition (SD) card, LCD color touch panel, etc. It also comes with a multipurpose HSMC for software debugging and developing interfaces for USB 2.0 and Santa Cruz daughtercards. This board is, in itself, an embedded system. On power-up, you can load a menu of “ready-to-run” demo applications. When connected to a network port, the Board Update Portal web page is served. From there, you can remotely update the board with a new design.

Altera Cyclone® III LS FPGA Development Kit is a complete design environment that includes both the hardware and software you need to develop Cyclone III LS FPGA designs. The board and the one-year license for the Quartus® II software provide everything you need to begin developing custom Cyclone III LS FPGA designs. The kit lets you develop and test memory subsystems consisting of DDR2 memory.
