NXP PCF85063 CMOS Real-Time Clock/Calendar (RTCs)

NXP's PCF85063 CMOS Real-Time Clock/Calendar (RTCs) are real-time clocks and calendar optimized for low power consumption. An offset register allows fine-tuning of the clock. All addresses and data are transferred serially via the two-line bidirectional I2C-bus or a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI-bus). Maximum data rate is 400kbit/s for the PCF85063A and PCF85063TP. Maximum data rate on the PCF85063B is 7Mbit/s. The register address is incremented automatically after each written or read data byte. Typical applications include digital still cameras, digital video cameras, printers, copy machines, mobile equipment, and battery powered devices.

  • Provides year, month, day, weekday, hours, minutes, and seconds based on a 32.768kHz quartz crystal
  • Clock operating voltage: 0.9V to 5.5V
  • Low current:
    • PCF85063A - typical 0.27µA at VDD = 3.0V and Tamb = 25ºC
    • PCF85063B & PCF85063TP - typical 0.22ººµA at VDD = 3.3V and Tamb = 25ºC
  • Interface
    • 400kHz two-line I2C-bus interface (at VDD = 1.8V to 5.5V) for PCF85063A and PCF85063TP
    • 3 line SPI-bus with a maximum data rate of 7Mbit/s for PCF85063B
  • Programmable clock output for peripheral devices (32.768kHz, 16.384kHz, 8.192kHz, 4.096kHz, 2.048kHz, 1.024kHz, and 1Hz)

  • Selectable integrated oscillator load capacitors for CL = 7pF or CL = 12.5pF
  • Minute and half minute interrupt
  • Internal Power-On Reset (POR)
