NXP Magneto-Resistive Angular Sensors

NXP's Magneto-Resistive Angular Sensors, by using a true angular measurement, approach work accurately and reliably with no magnetic field strength variations. MR sensors operate virtually independent of magnet shifts and drifts due to lifetime, thermal influences or mechanical stress. They enable angular measurements with high accuracy by an excellent linearity and temperature drift behavior. NXP's magnetoresistive angle sensors offer clear advantages over devices employing other sensing methods. MR sensors give an output signal virtually independent of magnet tolerances, magnet temperature coefficients, magnet-sensor distance and positioning tolerances.

KMZ41 Magnetic Field Sensor

NXP's KMZ41 Magnetic Field Sensor is a sensitive magnetic field sensor, employing the magneto-resistive effect of thin film permalloy. The sensor contains two galvanically separated Wheatstone bridges, which enclose an angle of 45 degrees. A rotating magnetic field strength > 40 kA/m (recommended field strength > 100 kA/m) in the surface parallel to the chip (x-y plane) will deliver two independent sinusoidal output signals, one following a cos(2α) and the second following a sin(2α) function. The sensor can be operated at any frequency between DC and 1 MHz.

KMZ43T Magnetic Field Sensor

NXP's KMZ43T Magnetic Field Sensor is a sensitive magnetic field sensor, employing the magnetoresistive effect of thin-film permalloy. The sensor contains two galvanic separated Wheatstone bridges, at a relative angle of 45° to one another. A rotating magnetic field in the x-y plane will produce two independent sinusoidal output signals, one a function of +cos(2α) and the second a function of +sin(2α), α being the angle between sensor and field direction (see Figure 2). The KMZ43T is suited to high precision angle measurement applications under low field conditions (saturation field strength 25 kA/m). The sensor can be operated at any frequency between 0 Hz and 1 MHz.

KMZ60 Magnetorresistive Sensor

NXP's KMZ60 Magnetoresistive Sensor provides amplified analog sinusoidal output signals with improved signal-to-noise behavior for high resolution ADC inputs. The sensor is designed for use in brushless motors and steering applications. It provides a selectable compensation of its temperature coefficients and a temperature reference output functionality. For safety-critical applications, a broken-bond wire detection is implemented. The KMZ60 incorporates NXP’s latest magnetoresistive sensor chip in six-inch technology and a unique signal conditioning ASIC developed in automotive-compliant process technology. The KMZ60 is specially designed to improve the overall performance and increase robustness in automotive and industrial applications. A power-down mode is available.
