Connection System

Delphi Harsh Environment Series (HES) Connection System offers higher current capability, improved sealing, and better terminal retention compared to standard pin-and-sleeve systems. The Delphi Harsh Environment Series (HES) Connection System consists of circular connectors, terminals, and rectangular 50 and 60-way headers. The HES Series is also well-suited for agriculture, commercial vehicle, construction, marine, and other harsh environment applications. HES Connector Systems are compatible with existing systems in the agricultural and commercial vehicle markets.

Connectors

Delphi HES Circular Connectors feature rugged construction which can withstand high vibration to meet the SAE J-2030 standard. HES Circular Connectors have a specialized lock finger design that virtually eliminates terminal unseats to achieve better contact (terminal) retention up to 40% compared to existing designs. The HES series offers superior sealing performance using a recessed 3-rib design that maintains sealing properties even if a tight wire dress is applied. The recessed 3-rib design provides up to 30% better sealing capability than existing designs.

HES Circular Connectors are ideally suited for connections in a vehicle sheet metal firewall passthrough locations. In addition, the rugged construction makes the HES Connectors well-suited for engine compartments. The offering includes six terminal configurations (47, 31, 29, 23, 21, and 19) with and without backshells. Delphi's HES Connectors are available with straight and right angle conduit wire dress covers on both receptacle and plug assemblies.

Delphi Harsh Environment Series (HES) Terminals achieve high current performance using high conductive materials. The overlapping wing design offers exceptional strain relief and larger outside diameter cable range capability.  A stainless steel sleeve provides stability and protection to contact interface area. Delphi's crimp design accommodates a wide range of cable sizes, and the use of tin in the crimp area provides crimp stability over the terminal life. Delphi HES Terminals are interchangeable with industry-standard terminal products.

Headers

Delphi Harsh Environment Series (HES) Header System virtually eliminates unseats with Delphi’s two stage terminal retainer design. This design passes 29 Grms vibration specification and incorporates a special bolt that protects the header when too much torque is applied. HES' Header System offers one of the tightest true pin positioning at 0.225 mm, ensuring easy mounting to a circuit board. Delphi HES headers are an ideal choice for high density device I/Os that are mounted directly to the engine.
