Cirrus Logic CS1501 / CS1601 Digital PFC Controllers

Cirrus Logic CS1501 and CS1601 digital PFC controllers feature super light-load efficiency, top-end power factor correction, and unsurpassed THD (total harmonic distortion). These high-performance Variable Frequency Discontinuous Mode active digital PFC controllers feature Cirrus Logic EXL Core® technology that enables intelligent and adaptive switching. The CS1501 and CS1601 operate at switching speeds up to 70kHz. These digital PFC controllers have current sense and zero crossing detect functionality along with a host of protection features, including brownout protection, overvoltage protection, and overpower protection with shutdown. The Cirrus Logic CS1501 digital PFC controller is designed for switching mode power supply (SMPS) applications. It actively manages the power factor correction while achieving high efficiency over a wide load range. The CS1601 delivers the lowest PFC system cost in electronic ballast applications.

Cirrus Logic CS1501 / CS1601 Development Boards

Cirrus Logic offers a variety of evaluation boards for the CS1501 and CS1601 controllers. The CDB150X-01 Demonstration Board demonstrates the performance of the CS1501 digital PFC controller with a 90 watt output at a link voltage of 400 volts. This board is 97% efficient at full load. Suited for power supply applications with 90-265VAC input.The CDB1601-120W Demonstration Board demonstrates the performance of the CS1601 digital PFC controller with a 120 watt output at a link voltage of 460 volts. This board is 95% efficient at full load. Suited for lighting applications with 108-305VAC input.The CRD1601-120W Reference Design Board demonstrates the performance of the CS1601 digital PFC controller in an electronic ballast application. The CRD1601 uses a resonant second stage driver to power up to two T5 fluorescent lamps. The CRD1601 has been designed to fit into a slimline T5 fluorescent electronic ballast form factor.
