AVX offers a complete assortment of TransGuard Varistors which are ideal for high temperatures and automotive applications.

CAN Series

AVX CAN Series TransGuard® High Temp Automotive Multi-Layer Varistors (MLVs) are designed for underhood applications and have been tested, qualified, and specified to 150ºC. These AVX CAN Series MLVs provide the advantage of EMI / RFI attenuation in the off-state. This allows designers to combine the circuit protection and EMI / RFI attenuation function into a single highly reliable device. AVX CAN Series TransGuard Automotive MLVs are AEC Q200 qualified and are ideal for under hood, down hole drilling, and high temperature applications.

VC /VA Series

AVX TransGuard® VA / VC Multi-Layer Ceramic Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVS) offer state-of-the-art bi-directional overvoltage protection from voltage transients caused by ESD, lighting, NEMP, inductive switches. Developed using high-energy multilayer construction, thin dielectric materials, and patented processes for precise ceramic grain growth, the AVX TransGuard® VA / VC Multi-Layer Ceramic Transient Voltage Suppressors provide superior energy dissipation with transient clamping characteristics up to 500 amps peak current depending on case size and energy rating.

VCAS & VGAS Series

AVX VCAS Series TransGuard® Automotive Multi-Layer Varistors (MLVs) provide bi-directional overvoltage protection and EMI/RFI attenuation in a single SMT package. Developed to guard against automotive related transients, the highly reliable AVX VCAS Series TransGuard® Automotive Multi-Layer Varistors offer high energy absorption, high current handling, bi-directional protection, multi-strike capability, and Sub 1nS response to ESD strike. The AVX VCAS Series TransGuard® Automotive Multi-Layer Varistors are AEC Q200 qualified and are ideal for internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, hybrid electrical vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electrical vehicles (PHEV), and commercial vehicles. Available with 16v, 18v, 26v, 30v, 38v, 42v, 48v, 56v, and 85v DC ratings and 0402 to 1210 size options.

New! AVX has expanded their line of VCAS TransGuard® Automotive MLVs to include the VG (commercial only) and VGAS Series. These new Multi-Layer Varistors (MLVs) are glass encapsulated for enhanced acid-resistance against harsh environments or processes such as acidic environments, salts, or chlorite flux processes.

VCAC

AVX VCAC Series Controlled Capacitance MLVs (Multilayer Varistor) TransGuard® is an application specific bi-directional transient voltage suppressor developed for use in mixed signal environments. The AVX Controlled Cap MLV has three purposes: 1) reduce emissions from a high speed ASIC, 2) prevent induced E fields from conducting into the IC, and 3) clamp transient voltages. By controlling capacitance of the MLV, the center frequency and 20db range for filtering purposes can be targeted. The AVX VCAC Series Controlled Capacitance MLVs can greatly improve overall system EMC performance and reduce system size.

VR15 Series

AVX introduced the VR15AT Series High Temperature Automotive Multi-Layer Varistor (MLV) as a 150ºC rated radial-leaded MLV with a small footprint using 0805 insert (.150" height on .100" lead spacing). The VR15AT Series MLV provides EMI/RFI attenuation in off-state which enables designers to combine the circuit protection and EMI/RFI attenuation function into a single, highly reliable device. As part of the AVX TransGuard® Automotive product line, the VR15AT Series High Temperature MLV offers high energy absorption, high current handling, multi-strike capability, bi-directional ESD protection in on-state, and Sub 1nS response to ESD strike. Designed for underhood applications, the AEC Q200 qualified AVX VR15AT Series High Temperature Automotive MLV is well-suited for any high temperature application including down-hole drilling, and is compliant with IEC 61000-4-2 ESD requirements.
