3M Touch Systems MicroTouch and Multi-Touch Surface Capacitive Touch Displays utilize an all-glass surface capacitive touch sensor and proprietary 3M ClearTek™ Hard Coat to deliver superior durability, 91.5% light transmission, and an ultra-fast 5.4 millisecond touch response time. 3M Touch Systems MicroTouch and Multi-Touch Surface Capacitive Touch Displays employ an all-glass touch sensor that has no moving parts, whereas 5-wire resistive solutions rely on compressing the top film layer against a conductive coating to recognize touch. Since force is required to activate a resistive touch screen, it is susceptible to mechanical wear and the appearance of "Newton Rings" which can potentially reduce product life and optical performance. These rugged 3M Touch Systems Displays continue to operate in the presence of on-screen contaminants and carry an "unlimited touch" warranty for a period of 3 years. In addition, 3M owns the design and tooling for the display thereby increasing control over the product life cycle and decreasing the possibility for an external change.

New! 3M Touch Systems has expanded their line of Multi-Touch Projected Capacitive Touch Displays to include screens with diagonal sizes of 18.5", 21", 24.5", 27.5", and 32". The expansion also includes three Dual-Touch Chassis Displays with diagonal sizes of 15", 17", and 19".

3M MicroTouch M1500SS and M1700SS Displays

The 3M MicroTouch M1500SS (15") and M1700SS (17") Displays are purpose-built, surface capacitive touch displays which provide cost-competitive touch alternatives to 5-wire resistive display solutions. The displays offer a stable base, highly durable touch screen, brilliant optics, and a cable management system, all in one simple-to-use design. These displays easily integrate into numerous point-of-sale, PC, and thin client systems making them ideal for applications requiring long life, 24/7 uptime, and the assurance of a 3-year "unlimited touches" warranty. Activated only by human touch, the M1500SS and M1700SS displays eliminate inadvertent or false touches from jewelry, clothing, or handheld objects, making them the clear choice for applications where reliability is key.

The M1500SS and M1700SS displays are designed for rock-solid touch stability even under rapidly repeating and/or heavy tapping. Most displays that were not designed for touch can wobble and/or flex, potentially causing a double touch that can increase operator error and create an unsatisfactory customer experience. The M1500SS and M1700SS displays have the flexibility to attach peripheral devices to the left or right of the display bezel and even maintain touch stability when locked in position at display angles ranging from 0 to 60 degrees for the M1500SS, and 0 to 90 degrees for the M1700SS.

M1500SS and M1700SS Features

3M MicroTouch C1500SS, C1700SS, and C2234SW Displays

The 3M MicroTouch C1500SS (15"), C1700SS (17"), and C2234SW (22") Displays are robust metal chassis displays which use 3M's industry-standard surface capacitive touch technology to provide durable, optically-enhanced, and cost competitive alternatives to 5-wire resistive displays used in industrial automation equipment and kiosk enclosures. The C2234SW also provides an engaging large form factor display for use in these same applications. The C1500SS, C1700SS, and C2234SW displays offer multiple mounting options to make integration easy, and the first two also have a variety of bezel options for sealing against liquids and other contaminants. The C1500SS and C2234SW displays also have a remote on-screen display module which helps simplify any changes to the display image during installation or system maintenance.

Multiple mounting and bezel options enable customers to meet their application needs at minimal cost. The C1500SS and C1700SS displays offer a 75mm VESA pattern, and the C2234SW a 100mm VESA pattern, to provide arm mounting capability for industrial automation equipment. This minimizes the capital expenditure needed to upgrade equipment with touch. L-brackets are included for installations requiring the touch display to be fully enclosed. An optional VESA mounting bracket is also available for the C1500SS display.

3M Multi-Touch Displays

3M Multi-Touch Displays each combine a projected capacitive matrix touchscreen offering ultra-fast, accurate, and precise touch response, with a high-definition, wide viewing angle LCD to create a multi-touch display that meets or exceeds the most demanding interactive applications. These displays have a highly-durable glass front surface with anti-stiction coating that greatly reduces surface friction and allows users fingers to glide across the display for easy gesture functions.

These Multi-Touch Displays use 3M Projected Capacitive Technology (3M PCT) with "full multi-touch" capabilities. Designed to push touch performance beyond traditional zoom, pinch, expand, and rotate capabilities, this technology offers developers an interactive tool of 10, 20, or 40 resolvable touches at less than 12ms point speed. Ultra-fast multi-touch capabilities developed by 3M can help overcome latency issues associated with software filtering factors and/or slow touch response rate which can negatively impact the user experience. In addition, 3M PCT technology is more natural, intuitive, and responsive compared to optically-based two touch systems.

3M Dual-Touch Chassis Displays are ideal solutions for kiosk applications that require the modern flat front surface design and dual touch gesture performance found in popular smart phone and tablet devices today. These displays, specifically designed for kiosk and enclosure integrations, feature a unique flat front surface-ready design to allow for easy integration and upgrading current kiosk designs. Dual-touch projected capacitive technology allows the system to quickly and accurately track two simultaneous touches across the entire touch screen. Bezel Options for MicroTouch C1500SS and C1700SS Displays

The C1500SS display offers three bezel options, and the C1700SS display offers two bezel options. The standard CT150 Touch Monitor product includes the Slimline Bezel, which is flush with the edges of the display. There are reinforced bosses on the monitor case for bracket mounting. This style is ideal for rear mount and arm-mounted applications.

The Contour Flanged Bezel, optional for the C1500SS, is contoured on the front to resemble a desktop monitor bezel, with a lip to cover the air gap between the touch display and the enclosure opening. This bezel is designed for front mount or "drop-in" applications, and is sold separately from the monitor. The Slimline Bezel and Contour Flanged Bezel are plastic bezels, ideal for solutions that require a NEMA 1 seal rating.

The Industrial Flanged Bezel is an optional rugged metal, gasketed bezel with wide flange and multiple attachment points to both the display and the enclosure. This bezel, available for both sizes of display, enables kiosks or others enclosures to support NEMA 4X / IP66 seal ratings. It is also sold separately from the monitor.
