Littelfuse Thyristor Quadracs for LED Dimmer Applications
Littelfuse Thyristor Quadracs are internally triggered Triacs designed for AC switching and phase control applications. The Quadrac is a Triac and DIAC in a single package, which eliminates the need for separate Triac and DIAC components. The Littelfuse Thyristor Quadracs are specifically designed for the low load current characteristics typical in LED lighting applications. These Quadracs are specified to perform best with LED loads by keeping holding current at 8mA maximum. The 8mA maximum holding current provides full control of light output at the extreme low end of load conditions with a minimum probability of flickering. Offering di/dt performance of 70A/µs, the Thyristor Quadracs enable survivability of typical LED load operating characteristics. Littelfuse offers the Thyristor Quadracs in the industry standard TO-220AB package with an isolated mounting tab that makes it best suited for adding an external heat sink. The 110°C rated junction temperature improves margin of safe operation with fewer heat sinking requirements. Littelfuse's Thyristor Quadracs are excellent for AC switching and phase control applications such as heating, lighting, and motor speed controls; AC solid-state switches, lighting controls with LED lamp loads, small low current motor in power tools, and low current motors in home / brown goods appliances.

maximum holding current provides full control of light output at the
extreme low end of load conditions with a minimum probability of
flickering. Offering di/dt performance of 70A/µs, the Thyristor Triacs
enable survivability of typical LED load operating characteristics. The
110°C rated junction temperature improves margin of safe operation with
fewer heat sinking requirements. Littelfuse's Thyristor Triacs are
well-suited for AC switching and phase control applications such as
heating, lighting, and motor speed controls; AC solid-state switches,
lighting controls with LED lamp loads, small low current motor in power
tools, and low current motors in home / brown goods appliances.

UL1449 3rd Edition
Underwriters Laboratories standard UL 1449 has become the primary safety standard for surge protective devices (SPDs). It describes the materials and installation requirements for SPDs used for the protection of AC electrical circuits. The standard has been revised twice in the past few years. A major safety testing initiative (UL 1449 2nd edition) became effective February 2007, and additional administrative and methodology changes (UL 1449 3rd edition) became effective in September 2009. The 3rd edition also includes new independent performance testing requirements.
UL 1449 3rd edition completely supersedes preceding editions. From September 2009 on, all equipment brought onto the market must satisfy these new requirements in order to qualify for the UL label. Practically all North American surge standards now revolve around 3rd edition, and are now purposely aligned with other standards, including UL 1283, 2008 National Electrical Code™ Article 285, NEMA LS-1, ANSI/IEEE C62 documents and others.

varistors that combine high maximum surge capability (50kA) with an
integrated thermally active element and offer a short circuit current
rating of 200kA. In the event of overheating due to abnormal
overvoltage, the TCMOV34S Varistor safely disconnects itself from the
circuit. A built-in micro-switch triggered by a mechanical slide
indicates when a circuit is completely isolated from the primary
circuit. -SMOV25 and SMOV34 Series Varistors safely disconnect from
the circuit in a sustained over-voltage, intermediate current condition
as defined by UL1449 (3rd edition). The integrated thermal element is
positioned close to the MOV body to allow for a quick thermal response.
The varistors offer high peak surge current handling and energy
absorption capabilities with an operating voltage range compatible with
common AC line voltage (115VAC to 750VAC). A separate micro-switch
indicates when the MOV has been disconnected from the circuit. This
separate switch isolates the monitoring circuitry from the primary
circuit to ensure indicator circuit safety and simplify the user's
circuit design.

Littelfuse SIDACtor Baseband Protection Thyristors are solid state crowbar
devices designed to protect of baseband telecommunications equipment
such as phones, faxes, modems, line cards, CPE and DSL from damaging
overvoltage transients. Leveraging the latest in thyristor advancements,
Littelfuse offers SIDACtor devices with a patented ion implant
technology. This technology ensures effective protection within
nanoseconds, up to 3000 A 1.2-50-8/20 surge current ratings, and simple
solutions for regulatory requirements such as GR 1089, TIA-968-B
(formerly known as FCC Part 68), ITU-T K.20, ITU-T K.21, and UL 60950-1.
In the standby mode, SIDACtor devices exhibit a high off-state
impedance, eliminating excessive leakage currents and appearing transparent to the circuits they
protect. If a voltage exceeding the switching voltage (VS) occurs, the
SIDACtor devices crowbar and simulate a short circuit condition until
the current flowing through the device is either interrupted or drops
below the SIDACtor device's holding current (IH). When this occurs,
SIDACtor devices reset and return to their high off-state impedance. View all SIDACtor Baseband Protection Thyristors

Littelfuse AK3 Series TVS Diodes
Littelfuse AK3 Series Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) Diodes have been specially designed for use in A.C. line protection and any particularly demanding applications (AC or DC). They offer superior clamping characteristics over standard S.A.D. technologies by virtue of the Littelfuse Foldbak technology, which provides a clamping voltage lower than the avalanche voltage, but above the rated working voltage. Therefore, any voltage rise due to increased current conduction is contained to a minimum, providing the best possible protection level. Littelfuse AK3 Series TVS Diodes can also be connected in series and/or parallel to create very high capacity protection solutions.
Littelfuse Silicon Protection Arrays (SPA)
Littelfuse TVS Diode Arrays SPA™ (Silicon Protection Arrays) are designed for newer electronic devices that require a more robust solution to damage from ESD, EFT, and lightning induced transients. The Littelfuse TVS Diode Arrays SPA™ devices offer the lowest dynamic resistance during an ESD or any EOS (electrical over stress)event which reduces clamping voltage levels far below that of competing technologies such as MLV, MOV, and polymer. Also available is a TVS Diode Arrays SPA™ Sample Kit containing ten each of the 39 TVS Diode Array SPA™ devices.
