High Accuracy Ambient Light Sensor

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors High Accuracy Ambient Light Sensor is an award-winning digital ambient light sensor with I²C Bus Interface. The SFH 5712 is the first and only digital ambient light sensor that perfectly matches the sensitivity of the human eye, allowing displays to react in a people-compatible way. By matching human eye sensitivity across the spectrum, the sensor addresses such problems as battery drain, reduced service life, and maintaining a clearly legible display in different ambient-light conditions. The ability to reduce these problems makes the OSRAM OS High Accuracy Ambient Light Sensor ideal for applications like satellite navigation displays, cell phones, handheld GPS systems, and laptops. It is also the only sensor that offers not only standard I²C data rates, but also high-speed rates to 3.4 MHz.

The OSRAM OS High Accuracy Ambient Light Sensor is a 2010 Product of the Year Award Winner. Among thousands of products, the editors of Electronic Products have chosen it as one of those they feel is among the most outstanding. The selection is based on a significant advance in technology or its application, innovation in design, or gain in price/performance.
