TI MSP430F5xx Microcontrollers

The Texas Instruments MSP430F5xx Microcontroller (MCU) family is an ultra-low power addition to the TI MCU portfolio that provides designers with enhanced performance and increased design options. These Texas Instruments Microcontrollers include new and innovative peripherals on chips that feature more memory and integrated capabilities and use less power than ever before.The MSP430F5xx family features a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and constant generators that contribute to maximum code efficiency. These MSP430™ MCUs include a high-performance 12-bit ADC, up to four universal serial communication interfaces, hardware multiplier, DMA, real time clock module with alarm capabilities, and up to 87 I/O pins.

MSP430F5xx Comparison to MSP430x2xx and MSP430x4xx:

Most of the core changes to the MSP430F5xx were required primarily to support the growing demands of microcontroller applications, which include higher levels of integration, higher performance levels at lower power, increased flexibility, and extensions for future enhancements. Although these changes were necessary, the intent was to maintain as much look and feel, as well as compatibility, with earlier MSP430 generations.
