Simple and Reliable System Interconnection of Individual Solar Modules
Right to the DC/AC Converters
Market expansion of the formerly regulated
energy
supply sector, increased global environmental awareness, and governments committing themselves to more stringent environmental targets have opened up new opportunities for the photovoltaic industry. The photovoltaics industry now has the opportunity to move into mass production, realizing economies of scale and gaining a greater market share of the world's energy mix.
TE Connectivity
contributes to the establishment of this environmentally-friendly technology with the introduction of its
SOLARLOK connector system
.
SOLARLOK
delivers a flexible system solution for easy and reliable
interconnections
from
photovoltaic
modules to the DC/AC converter. The entire system concept is based on cost effective and reliable processing of individual
interconnection system
components. This can significantly reduce the installation cost of a
solar energy system.

SOLARLOK Cable Couplers
|
TE Connectivity's SOLARLOK® Connector System
provides simple, fast, and reliable
connections
from
solar modules
with different insulation diameters to
DC
/
AC converters. The male and female cable coupler was designed for high voltage/current/temperature and mating safety is provided by polarity keyed housings with multiple plugging and unplugging cycles. The squeeze-to-release connections compliment the robust product specifications.

TE Connectivity SOLARLOK Cable Coupler
|
|
The
TE Connectivity SOLARLOK
male and female
cable coupler
were designed for high voltage and high current-carrying capacity in addition to the well established
IP67 sealing
requirement in the
photovoltaic
industry. Mating safety is provided by polarity keyed housings, fully shrouded high cycle life contacts and a squeeze to release
connection
system. In addition fulfillment of worldwide standards for
photovoltaic connection systems
complement the robust product specification.

TE Connectivity SOLARLOK Locking Collar
|
The
TE Connectivity SOLARLOK locking collar connector
accessory is applied to the fully mated
cable coupler
male and female
connectors
. This
connector locking collar
will be required by NEC 2008 code in any accessible
photovoltaic
locations where mated
cable couplers
will be exposed. This
connector latch locking collar
helps to prevent any access to the
cable coupler
release feature thus making accidental disconnects a thing of the past. In order to release the
connector latch locking collar
, a simple flathead screwdriver will need to be inserted into the screwdriver slot, lifted and slid back to expose the connector squeeze to release wings. This action will open the locking accessory and qualify as a "tooled extraction."
|
Key Features:
-
Meets NEC 2008 Article 690.33(c) tooled extraction requirement
-
Made from rugged, durable plastic meant to survive high impact applications in conjunction with UL standards
-
The material is UV rated to F-1 to provide long product life in sunlight applications

Solar Rating Labels
The
Solar Rating Labels
are designed to meet the industry needs by providing a white printable area to add important system information such as maximum
system voltage
and
system current
. The same robust materials are used in the construction of these
labels
as with the standard
solar identification labels
noted above. The system rating data can be added using thermal transfer ink ribbon and printer or by using an indelible marker. For best results, it is recommended to use the UV resistant clear over-laminate label over the printed label for further protection.
