Mouser Electronics, Inc., a top design engineering resource and global distributor for semiconductors and electronic components, congratulates IndyCar’s newest driver Ho-Pin Tung on his run at the Indy Grand Prix Sonoma. Tung, who raced in the #88 Mouser Honda IndyCar, made racing history on Sunday as the first driver from the People’s Republic of China to qualify and race in an IndyCar event.
“It’s been a true pleasure to work with Ho Pin; he’s an extremely talented driver and his involvement has become an integral part of our successful business strategy,” says Larry Johannes, Mouser Vice President of Strategic Marketing. “Our partnership with Ho Pin, Jay Penske and Sam Schmidt Motorsports (SSM) embodies Mouser’s commitment to high performance.”
“I am thrilled that we were able to give Ho-Pin the opportunity to get into an IndyCar again this season,” stated Dragon Racing owner Jay Penske. Sam Schmidt and Jay Penske joined together with Mouser to sponsor Tung at Sonoma.
Sunday’s history-making event ended in dramatic fashion for Tung. Tung was forced to veer off the track into the tire barricade with just 10 laps remaining.
Tung has established a name for himself in Asia appearing on the cover of GQ China and various other magazines, as well appearing on national television and in popular console and PC racing games. Co-sponsoring Tung and Sam Schmidt Motorsports was Mouser’s Berkshire Hathaway partner company, TTI Inc. Joining them in sponsorship are top manufacturers Panasonic, TE Connectivity, Littelfuse, Amphenol, Phoenix Contact, Ohmite, Murata, Avago. Kemet, Vishay, On Semiconductor, and Luscombe Engineering.
Mouser’s 2011 Indy sponsorships parallel the company’s global efforts in accelerating distribution of the world’s most technologically advanced semiconductors and components for electronic design engineers. Mouser currently has 17 global customer service centers spread across North America, Europe and Asia.
