Mouser Electronics, Inc., is once again a major sponsor of National Engineers Week, an event that champions engineers everywhere by increasing public awareness and sharing an appreciation of engineers and their work.
Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers in 1951, Engineers Week is dedicated to ensuring a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers.
Today, Engineers Week is a formal coalition of more than 70 engineering, education, and educational societies, and more than 50 corporations and government agencies. It promotes recognition among parents, teachers, and students of the importance of a technical education and a high level of math, science, and technology literacy, plus motivates youth to pursue engineering careers in order to provide a diverse and vigorous engineering workforce. Each year, Engineers Week reaches thousands of schools, businesses, and community groups across the U.S.
“We are excited by this opportunity to inspire the next generation of engineers through events like Engineers Week that promote and enhance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education programs,” said Kevin Hess, Mouser Vice President of Technical Marketing. “One of the great challenges facing our country, industry and company is developing the future technical workforce. We believe it is programs like this that help shape the innovators, inventors, and scientists that will create the technological wonders that will wow us.”
Mouser is hosting an array of engineering challenges and activities in its own company-branded Imaginer Studio at the local Fort Worth Museum during the week. Museum visitors will be sharing fun interactive experiences while learning how engineering affects everyday life. Mouser’s goal is to spark imaginations, particularly those of future design engineers, while demonstrating cutting edge technologies.
“Mouser is a valued sponsor and a true partner,” said Van A. Romans, President of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. “There’s no better feeling than having a solid company behind you – one that shares a genuine excitement for advancing innovation. To remain at the forefront of innovation, we need to inspire a new generation toward rewarding engineering careers. With Mouser’s increased financial, in-kind, and volunteer support and professional insights this year, we are offering thousands of unique, creative, and memorable engineering-related learning experiences to our guests.”
All Engineers Week activities are included with paid admission to the Museum, located in Fort Worth’s Cultural District.
