Mouser Electronics, Inc., a top design engineering resource and global distributor for semiconductors and electronic components, congratulates auto-racing driver Alex Tagliani on an outstanding effort at the Indianapolis 500. Tagliani, who raced in the B&W/Mouser IndyCar, was a favorite heading into this year's race as the first Canadian to win the Indy pole position.
"We are very proud of Tag's efforts. He qualified on the pole, he led quite a few laps and even when the car went away he never gave up," says Larry Johannes, Mouser Vice President of Strategic Marketing. "It was a pleasure to sponsor this talented driver. Our partnership with Sam Schmidt Motorsports embodies Mouser's commitment to high performance."
Tagliani had the fastest qualifying time but his dream to take the checkered flag will have to wait another year.
Approximately 375 miles into the race, the Canadian driver was attempting to pass driver JR Hildebrand entering Turn 4 of the legendary oval track when Tagliani's #77 car got a little too high and scraped the outside wall, damaging the front axle of the Sam Schmidt Motorsports car, according to the Associated Press.
Tagliani guided the car back safely to the pit but was forced to pull out of the race. Racer Dan Wheldon captured the coveted Indy 500 trophy.
Mouser also sponsored Chinese driver Ho-Pin Tung in his attempt to qualify for the Indy 500, the first Chinese racer ever to enter the Indy.
Mouser's 2011 Indy sponsorships of Tagliani and Tung parallel the company's global efforts in accelerating distribution of the world's most technologically advanced semiconductors and components for electronic design engineers. Mouser currently has 17 global customer service centers spread across North America, Europe and Asia.
Co-sponsoring Tagliani and Tung were Mouser Electronics' parent company: TTI Inc. and suppliers 3M, ebm-papst, Hammond Manufacturing, Littelfuse, Murata, and Omron Electronic Components.
Just like on the racetrack, the end goal of Mouser Electronics is to be the fastest global distributor with the latest products and best-in-class service, Johannes explains. With its broad product line and unsurpassed customer service, Mouser caters to design engineers and buyers by delivering what's next in advanced technologies. Mouser Electronics' website is updated daily and searches more than 7.5 million products to locate over 1.9 million orderable part numbers available for easy online purchase. Mouser.com also houses an industry-first interactive catalog, data sheets, supplier-specific reference designs, application notes, technical design information, and engineering tools.
Mouser Electronics, a subsidiary of TTI, Inc., is part of Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway family of companies. Mouser is an award-winning authorized semiconductor and electronic component distributor, focused on the rapid introduction of new products and technologies to electronic design engineers and buyers. Mouser.com features more than 1.9 million products online from more than 400 manufacturers.
