Overview

AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, recently received the Passive & Electromechanical Product of the Year at the Elektra 2010 European Electronics Industry Awards for its new surface mount polymer tantalum capacitors.


The tantalum capacitor s were recognized and honored for achieving a number of industry Firsts, including delivering the highest operating voltage (50V) in the industry for their product type.

The single anode TCJ Series has 10µF/35V and 1µF/50V CV ratings and the multi-anode TCM Series is rated at 22µF/35V with the lowest ESR in the industry at 25mΩ.

Their high operating voltage and conductive polymer make-up create many other benefits of these capacitors that were recognized by the Elektra judging panel. These benefits include:

  • Ability to operate at high line voltages and withstand high ripple currents
  • No oxygen molecules, which reduces the recommended voltage de-rating by up to 20%, making these components more robust and less susceptible to overloading and burning
  • Reduction of audible noise in LCD monitors and ability to solve LED backlighting height restrictions
  • Greater stability over ambient temperature and applied voltage ranges when compared to MLCC devices
  • Low profile which enables the design of ultra-slim LCD monitors
  • Adherance to all relevant environmental standards, including RoHS, REACH and WEEE, due to their halogen-free compliant environmental response design

TCJ Series


TCJ Series Capacitors with Conductive Polymer Electrode

The AVX TCJ Series Capacitors with Conductive Polymer Electrode are tantalum solid electrolytic chip capacitors with a conductive polymer electrode to reduce ignition failure mode. With low ESR and 3x reflow at 260ºC compatability, the TCJ Series offers a CV range of 1.0-150µF / 2.5-50V. The AVX TCJ Series Capacitors with Conductive Polymer Electrode are RoHS compliant and are available in 13 case sizes.

TCM Series


TCM Series Tantalum Capacitors

The AVX TCM Series Tantalum Capacitors are solid electrolytic chip capacitors with a conductive polymer multianode. With extremely low ESR and high frequency capacitance retention, the TCM Series offers a reduced ignition failure mode, 3x reflow 260ºC compatibility, and volumetric efficiency. The AVX TCM Series Tantalum Capacitors are Lead-free and RoHS compliant.
