9178 Series
as a line of unique 50 Ohm
SMT Coax Connectors
based on its industry proven discrete wire Insulation Displacement Connector (IDC) technology.
AVX
combined two different sized
IDC
contacts to enable the
AVX 9178 Series IDC SMT Coax Connectors
to pierce the center conductor and outside jacket dielectric materials making an electrical connection to the signal wire and braid (ground connection). Constructed specifically for
RG178 cable
, the concept can be applied to other cable sizes.
The
AVX 9178 Series IDC SMT Coax Connectors
are pre-attached cap in tape & reel packaging. The
coax cable
only requires the outer jacket and braid stripped. The
cable
is then inserted into the
connector
and the cap can be pressed down via a small press or hand tool. The
AVX 9178 Series IDC SMT Coax Connectors
are extremely easy to terminate with no soldering, additional stripping processes, or crimp tools are needed. The
AVX 9178 Series connectors
can
result in significant cost and process improvements over existing products and termination methods.
AVX
's all plastic design is more cost effective than plated screw machine components and provide a VSWR less than 1.2:1 in excess of 700MHz. Available in black for industrial applications and white for lighting applications.
