BeagleBoard.org develops low-cost, fan-less single-board computers based on low-power Texas Instruments processors featuring the ARM Cortex-A8 core with all of the expandability of today's desktop machines, but without the bulk, expense, or noise. BeagleBoard.org provides an open source development platform for the creation of high-performance embedded designs.

BeagleBone Green

Seeed Studio Beaglebone Green features an AM3358 1GHz ARM® Cortex®-A8 and 512MB of DDR3 RAM. Other features include 4GB of flash storage, NEON floating-point accelerator, 2x PRU 32-bit MCUs, USB client for power and communications, USB host mode, Ethernet, 2x46 pin headers, and 2 Grove connectors. The Beaglebone Green is fully compatible with existing Beaglebone Black software, and existing Capes can work with the Beaglebone Green. The Beaglebone Green has some differences from the Beaglebone Black. The HDMI port is no longer included on the board. The 5V barrel jack has been replaced by a microUSB connector. Lastly, two Grove connectors have been added, one for I²C interfaces, and another for UART interfaces.

BeagleBone Black is the newest member of the BeagleBoard family and is a lower-cost, high-expansion focused BeagleBone, featuring the Sitara AM3358 ARM Cortex-A8 32-Bit RISC microprocessor from Texas Instruments. It is similar to the BeagleBone but with some previous features removed to make way for the excellent new features. The Beagleboard.org platform has a proven track record of facilitating innovation from concept to market and the BeagleBone Black's enhanced feature set enables developers to turn ideas into prototypes more easily than ever. Whether operating standalone or in conjunction with another computer, this new BeagleBone will provide developers easy access to industry standard interfaces and a well-developed ecosystem of software and tools. The original BeagleBone's cape plug-in boards are also compatible with the BeagleBone Black, making easy integration with previous projects yet another advantage.

BeagleBoard - BeagleBone Community Development Board delivers the bare bones with the greatest access to interface signals for sensors and controls, while eliminating the need for additional equipment with a single cable development environment. Intended to work standalone or in conjunction with existing BeagleBoard and BeagleBoard-xM, the BeagleBone Community Development Board is targeted at application developers enabling easy access to industry standard I/O's. BeagleBone features the TI AM3359 processor, a 700MHz or greater super-scalar ARM Cortex™-A8, 256-MB DDR2 RAM, and a USB 2.0 flexible device port with the ability to supply power. BeagleBone and BeagleBoard-xM are ideal for such applications as 3D printers and industrial robotics, web servers and Internet-enabled kiosks, in-vehicle entertainment, and home media centers.

BeagleBoard-xM delivers extra ARM® Cortex™-A8 MHz and extra memory with 512MB of low-power DDR RAM, enabling engineers, innovators, and hobbyists to take their imagination to another level. The BeagleBoard-xM features an open hardware design that improves upon the laptop-like performance and expandability of the original BeagleBoard while keeping at hand-held power levels. Direct connectivity is supported by the on-board four-port hub with 10/100 Ethernet while maintaining a tiny 3.25" x 3.25" footprint. The BeagleBoard-xM is intended as a community-supported platform that can be used as the basis for building more complete development systems and as a target for community software baselines.
