JESD204B Interface

The JEDEC committee created JESD204B data converter serial interface standard to standardize and reduce the number of data inputs/outputs between high-speed data converters and other devices, such as FPGAs (field-programmable gate arrays). Fewer interconnects simplifies layout and allows smaller form factor realization without impacting overall system performance. These attributes are important to address the system size and cost constraints of a range of high speed ADC applications, including wireless infrastructure (GSM, EDGE, W-CDMA, LTE, CDMA2000, WiMAX, TD-SCDMA) transceiver architectures, software-defined radios, portable instrumentation, medical ultrasound equipment, and Mil/Aero applications such as radar and secure communications.

Rapid System Prototyping for AD9250
ADI's AD-FMCJESDADC1-EBZ is an easy-to-use FMC-based rapid development board comprising four 14-bit, 250 MSPS, A/D conversion channels and featuring a JESD204B high-speed serial output interface. The board contains two AD9250 dual-channel ADC ICs with on-board clocking and power supplies to facilitate seamless connectivity with the Xilinx ML605, KC705 or VC707 development platform.

AD9250 IC Key Performance Features

  • IF sampling frequencies of up to 400 MHz
  • SNR = 70.6 dBFS at 185 MHz AIN and 250 MSPS
  • SFDR = 88 dBc at 185 MHz AIN and 250 MSPS
  • Total power consumption:711 mW at 250 MSPS

AD-FMCADC2-EBZ Rapid System Prototyping Board
ADI's AD-FMCADC2-EBZ is a data acquisition and signal processing platform that includes a complete signal chain to digitize wideband RF signals for a variety of high-performance applications. AD-FMCADC2-EBZ features operating software and drivers for seamless connectivity within the Xilinx FPGA development platform ecosystem. This board is comprised of the AD9625.2.5 12-bit, 2.5 GSPS JESD204B A/D converter, input balun, clock oscillator, and critical power management components.
