Heraeus Thin Film SMD Platinum Resistance Temperature Detector Elements are designed for automatic mounting in high-volume applications on printed circuit boards where long time stability, interchangeability and low costs are important. Standard sizes include 0805, 0603, and 1206. The devices are available with platinum contacts with 3850 ppm temperature coefficient or nickel contacts with 6180 ppm temperature coefficient. Thin Film SMD Platinum Resistance Temperature Detector Elements are also available in leaded versions.
Heraeus Thin Film Platinum Temperature Detector Elements are constructed by depositing a sensing layer of platinum on a ceramic substrate. Thin Film elements offer the advantages of small size and a wide choice of resistance values ranging from 6.8 to 10,000 ohms. The types of elements offered differ primarily by operating temperature range. Requirements for most applications can be met with the M-type elements, having platinum-coated nickel lead wire and operating at a temperature range of -70º to +500ºC. The L-type elements are constructed with highly-solderable AgPd lead wires and operate at temperatures from -50º to +400ºC. Other options include the C-type elements for lower temperatures (196º to 500ºC) and the H-type, providing an extended high temperature operating range, up to 850ºC. Thin Film Platinum Temperature Detector Elements are also available in SMD versions.
Heraeus K Series Ceramic Wire Wound Platinum Resistance Temperature Detectors, with temperature ranges to +850ºC, are suitable for chemical and power generation plants, analytical equipment, and other applications requiring high temperature stability and shock resistance. The devices are constructed of a platinum coil sealed inside a high purity aluminum oxide ceramic body. Lead wires are shear force resistant.
