Practical USB Interface Solutions

The FTDI FT2232H Mini-Module and FT4232H Mini-Module are miniature USB 2.0 high-speed evaluation modules that support the new FT2232H and FT4232H USB 2.0 high-speed devices that can be configured in a variety of industry standard serial or parallel interfaces such as UART or FIFO. The module PCB measures just 36mm (L) x 30mm (W) x 12mm (H including connector pins). The Multi-Protocol Synchronous Serial Engines (MPSSE) are capable of speeds up to 30Mbits/s and provide flexible interface configurations. The entire USB protocol is on a chip with integrated LDO regulator and PPL. Each FTDI Mini-Module provides access to all required signals through two 26 way (2 rows, 0.1" pitch) male headers measuring 32.9mm x 5.08mm. The pin length is 6mm. These products allow customers to quickly evaluate the FT2232H and FT4232H device and drivers prior to commencing their own design.

FT2232H Mini Module

  • Dual High Speed USB to Multipurpose UART/FIFO/MPSSE IC

The FT2232H Mini Module is a USB-to-serial/FIFO development module in the FTDI product range which utilizes the FT2232H USB Hi-Speed two-port bridge chip which handles all the USB signaling and protocols. It is ideal for development purposes to quickly prove functionality of adding USB to a target design.

The FT2232H on the Mini Module is FTDI’s 5th generation of USB devices. The FT2232H is a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed (480Mb/s) to UART/MPSSE IC. The device features two interfaces that can be configured for asynchronous or synchronous serial or parallel FIFO interfaces. The two channels can also be independently configured to use an MPSSE engine. This allows the two ports of the FT2232H to operate independently as UART/Bit-Bang ports or MPSSE engines used to emulate JTAG, SPI, I2C, Bit-bang or other synchronous serial modes.

The FT2232H Mini Module connects the signals of the FT2232H IC to two 26-pin dual-row headers which allow easy connection PCB header sockets and ribbon cables.

FT4232H Mini-Module

The FT4232H Mini Module is a USB-serial/MPSSE development module in the FTDI product range which utilizes the FT4232H USB Hi-Speed four-port bridge chip which handles all the USB signaling and protocols. It is ideal for development purposes to quickly prove functionality of adding USB to a target design.

The FT4232H on the Mini Module is FTDI’s 5th generation of USB devices. The FT4232H is a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed (480Mb/s) to UART/MPSSE IC.
