| AVX offers new 9159 Series LED Lighting Connectors which are board-to-board interconnects with 2 to 6 way plugs and sockets or a card edge style for daisy chaining multiple LED boards together in a series. The simple and cost effective one-piece card edge connectors on a 2.0mm pitch provide multiple connections to tin plated fingers at the end of each 1.60mm thick PCB. The two-piece plug and receptacle SMT connector system is on a 3.0mm pitch with a miniature 3.0mm height and 5.5mm overall mated length. The LED lighting market continues to grow and evolve at a very fast pace. AVX Interconnect has several new products in development for 2009 to meet the new product challenges their customers require in their new applications. The first of these products are board-to-board connectors for daisy chaining multiple LED boards together in series.
The first product released is a simple 1 piece card edge style connector for 1.60mm thick PCBs while the second version is a compact 2 piece (plug and receptacle) connector for SMT attachment to the PCB. The key features and benefits of these new board-to-board connectors include:
- Simple and cost effective double ended card edge connector (1 piece) on 2.0mm pitch provides multiple connections to tin plated fingers at the end of each PCB.
- The compact 2 piece connector system is on 3.0mm pitch, 3.0mm height and 5.5mm overall mated length to maximize miniaturization.
- The 2 piece connectors are SMT terminated to one side of the PCB allowing both PCBs to be completely “butt” mated with no gap; this provides consistent LED spacing across multiple PCBs.
- The 2 piece connectors are made from high temperature plastic to support automatic SMT placement up to 260ºC reflow processing.
